Clinical Approach: The clinical approach I use to counseling is targeted to attend my client’s needs. My preference is the Psychodynamic approach where the client and I explore the origins of their psychological discomfort and use the insights to the healing process, incorporating changes in the present. Some clients however come to counseling with a sense of urgency, a need to work objectively on a specific problem with the aim of a faster solution focused to their crisis, and in these cases I support and stay present with the client’s needs.

I create a safe, non-threatening atmosphere for the therapeutic process. Respecting the client's pace I work with the client's empowerment, exploration of choices, congruence of feelings and behavior, exploration of creative ways, stress reduction and relaxation, coping skills, awareness of personal needs, attention to self care and finding meaning in their experiences.

Expertise: I have extensive experience working with: Depression, Bipolar, Coping Skills, Stress Reduction, Grief and Loss, Self Esteem, Borderline, Life Transitions, Career Choices, Parenting, Relationship Difficulties, Sustaining Sobriety and Recovery, Sexual Orientation, Finding the Meaning of Life.

Vision: When I founded Luminous Counseling Center I wanted to create conditions to approach counseling in an expansive view, including the emotions, beliefs, and the body wisdom as a vehicle for the healing of the whole person.

I experience psychological healing through traditional psychotherapy, as well as through practicing authentic movement, meditation, yoga, writing, dancing as a celebration of joy, working on my dreams and staying in touch with my inner wisdom. I offer these services as classes as well as tailoring them to individual sessions at the client's request.

Bringing together a special group of psychotherapists to complement and achieve this vision has been a journey of synchronicity and quest. The experience has made me feel blessed for their arrival, their expertise a contribution beyond my abilities as a solo individual. As a group we are in the process of making  Luminous into the healing place we believe possible.

Population: I work with Individuals, Couples, Family and Groups

Payment: Currently I accept the following Health Insurances:  Blue Cross, Aetna, ComPsych, Humana, LifeSynch, Medicaid, Multiplan, MHNet, Community First.  In special cases I discuss with the client the possibility of a scale-fee. Direct pay (out of pocket) is another resource. Average fee is $50.00 to $100.00 depending on client’s income. Payment accepted is cash or check. .I suggest the client check with their Insurances for coverage before the first visit or about Out of Network payment as well.
